Take Power – Make Demands

TAKE POWER

Many people use the following excuses. Are you one of them?

  • I’m just one person. What can I do?
  • Washington will fix healthcare. That’s their job.
  • Healthcare is unfixable. No one can make it work.

Reality check #1: “Just one person” means just one vote. When combined with many others who feel as you do, that is called a majority and majority rules (in this country anyway).

Reality check #2: Washington cannot and will never fix healthcare. Most of what Congress has done over the past fifty years has made health care in the U.S. sicker than it was.

Reality check #3: Ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? “Healthcare is unfixable” is one. It means by predicting something cannot be fixed, you guarantee that it will not be fixed.

YOU HAVE ONLY TWO CHOICES.

A) Accept the non-system we currently have, or

b) Fix it yourself. There is no third choice.

CLAIM YOUR POWER

“Uproot U.S. Healthcare” shows you how to claim your power to fix healthcare, for your own sake. Do not do it for me or even for our country but because it is in your own best self-interest.

MAKE DEMANDS

EVIDENCE FIRST

We need to demand that Congresspeople show us evidence before they pass laws, all laws. No excuses accepted. Calling something a “crisis” and then acting without proof always ends up making things worse.

Evidence should show both exactly what the problem is and prove that their solution actually will fix the problem, by demonstrating that it has fixed similar problems in the past.

MANDATORY COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS

We should require all, repeat all, lawmakers to provide a long term cost/benefit analysis before they confiscate and spend our dollars. This should be applied to all decisions. Again, no exceptions allowed.

Healthcare is a perfect example of what not to do. No one calculates avoided costs. No one measures productivity effects, and no one measures benefits! You cannot know value of anything without knowing the long term gains you get.

ESTABLISH PRINCIPLES FOR HEALTHCARE

The reason our nation has survived and thrived for over 325 years is simple: the U.S.A. has principles. The reason that healthcare keeps getting sicker over time is that it has no principles.

To fix healthcare, we need to establish principles, not rules or regulations, but principles first.

  • Is health care a right and if so, what does that mean?
  • Does a person have any responsibility in the health care relationship?
  • What is our national commitment to illegal residents?
  • Do we expect care providers to be perfect?

We the People, and only We the People, can establish such principles. We will resist if they are imposed on us from above. That is called tyranny. Our nation was founded in opposition to central domination, whether you call the tyrant King, Commune, or Congress.
